GO Communications has had quite a journey with Starbucks since it was appointed as the company’s first PR agency on record in Malaysia two years ago. Most recently, GO was tasked with facilitating the opening of Penang’s very first Starbucks Signing Store on Burmah Road. The store is the second of its kind in Malaysia following the opening of the Starbucks Signing Store in Bangsar Village II last year - the first in the world.

The Starbucks Signing Store in Penang will cater to the needs, employment and development of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Penang, cementing Starbucks’ position as a company which places humanity at its core.

The store’s opening was officiated by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow; Her Excellency Kamala Lakhdhir, the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia; and Mr. Sydney Quays, CEO of Berjaya Food Berhad and managing director of Starbucks Malaysia & Brunei. Also witnessing the launch was Dato’ Seri Robin Tan, CEO of Berjaya Group, as well as representatives of the Penang Deaf Association (PDA).
